Job Description

To be responsible for the coordination of assigned project/s  and  execution of the project specific tasks and activities on remediation of contaminated sites and houses from indoor radon

Requirements

  • NQF Level 8 in Natural Sciences
  • Minimum of 3 years regulatory and/or relevant operational experience

Knowledge and experience of the following areas:

  • Radiation Protection
  • Safety assessment methodologies
  • Nuclear safety
  • Radioactive Waste safety
  • Transport of Radioactive material
  • Radiological Environmental protection
  • Computer Codes Modelling
  • Geographic Information System (GIS)

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the activities related to allocated remediation projects for contaminated sites and indoor radon.
  • Review and assessment of applications / submissions related to remediation activities
  • Participate in the conduct of site identification, radiological characterisation, sampling and radon surveys
  • Update of the assigned project specific information on the relevant databases
  • Assist in the development of relevant processes, procedures and work instructions
  • Arrange and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities in relation to specific projects
  • Monitor media for articles related to public exposures due to contaminated sites and indoor radon
  • Monitor the outputs of research work underway in South Africa with regard to public exposures (contaminated sites and indoor radon)
